Common Questions

What can physiotherapy help with?

Physiotherapy can help you manage pain, improve mobility, recover from injuries, and build strength and confidence in movement.

Our physiotherapy services support a range of concerns, including muscle and joint pain, back and neck discomfort, sports injuries, movement limitations, post-injury rehabilitation, pelvic health concerns, and concussion-related symptoms.

Your physiotherapist will assess your individual needs and develop a treatment plan tailored to your goals.

Do I need a doctor's referral to book physiotherapy?

No. You can book directly with a registered physiotherapist without a physician referral.

Some extended health insurance plans may require a referral for reimbursement, so we recommend checking your individual coverage before your appointment.

What should I expect at my first physiotherapy appointment?

Your first appointment is an opportunity to understand your concerns, health history, and goals.

Your physiotherapist will complete an individualized assessment, which may include discussing your symptoms and evaluating your movement, strength, mobility, and physical function.

Together, you'll discuss your treatment options and develop a plan to support your recovery and longer-term well-being. Treatment may begin during your initial visit when appropriate.

What types of physiotherapy does Aroga offer?

Aroga is launching physiotherapy services in Victoria, including general physiotherapy, pelvic health physiotherapy, and concussion rehabilitation.

Depending on your needs, treatment may include therapeutic exercise, movement education, hands-on techniques, and strategies to help you manage symptoms and improve function.

Services are tailored to each patient's assessment and clinical needs.

What is pelvic health physiotherapy, and who can benefit?

Pelvic health physiotherapy focuses on the muscles and structures that support bladder, bowel, pelvic, and core function.

It may help individuals experiencing urinary leakage, pelvic discomfort, changes following pregnancy or childbirth, and other pelvic floor-related concerns.

Treatment begins with a discussion of your symptoms and goals, followed by an individualized assessment. Your physiotherapist will explain any assessment or treatment options and obtain your consent before proceeding.

Is physiotherapy covered by MSP or extended health insurance?

Physiotherapy is generally paid for privately or through extended health benefits. Many insurance plans provide coverage for services delivered by a registered physiotherapist.

Some patients may qualify for limited publicly funded physiotherapy benefits under MSP, depending on eligibility and the clinic's billing arrangements.

We recommend confirming your coverage directly with your insurer before booking.

Does Aroga offer direct billing to insurance providers?

Aroga is working to support direct billing through participating extended health insurance providers.

Direct billing availability depends on your insurer, individual plan, and eligibility. If direct billing is not available, we can provide a receipt for you to submit to your insurance provider.

Please confirm your coverage and billing options with our team before your appointment.

Can I receive physiotherapy following a motor vehicle or workplace injury?

Physiotherapy may be part of recovery following a motor vehicle accident or work-related injury.

If you have an active ICBC or WorkSafeBC claim, please contact our team before booking so we can confirm our current claim acceptance, billing arrangements, and any required authorization.

How many physiotherapy sessions will I need?

The number of sessions depends on your condition, goals, and response to treatment.

Some concerns may improve with a small number of appointments, while others benefit from longer-term rehabilitation and ongoing guidance.

Your physiotherapist will discuss an appropriate treatment plan after your initial assessment and adjust it as you progress.
